The Brian May wall plaque features a Baby Axe Mini 'Red Special' guitar and is carefully attached to the black and gold metal laser etched framed plaque which features a detailed history of the unique guitar.
The plaque itself measures 13 x 11 inches (34 x 28cm) and is ready for wall mounting and is supplied in high quality Baby Axe branded gift box.
The inscription reads:
The 'Red Special' is the instantly recognisable guitar designed, made and played by Dr Brian May.
As a boy, unable to afford a quality instrument, Brian and his father Harold set about building the guitar from scratch, from bits and pieces lying around in Harold's workshop in the family home in Feltham circa 1964.
A one-hundred-year-old (at the time) mahogany fireplace provided the wood for the neck, and an old oak table and some block-board were chaped for the body. Motorcycle valve springs, a knitting needle, filed down pearl buttons, shelf edging and an old bicycle saddle bag were some of the other materials used in the construction process.
Two years of painstaking trial and test later, and the 'Old Girl' (as she is affectionately known) was ready to be unleashed onto an unsuspecting public.
The guitar has appeared at every Queen concert since then, and on almost every recorded Queen track. It remains the number one choice instrument for Brian's continuing solo and group work, including a legendary outing on the roof of Buckingham Palace in 2002.
This replica is approved by Brian for recreational purposes !
Note: Due to the value and weight of the plaque orders will be dispatched by courier only.
